from the desk of Dan Grabowska, High School Principal
We are quickly approaching the last quarter of the 2012-2013 school year. Spring is just arriving, which means you will see student athletes out and about running, jumping, throwing, and catching. Students will be working on final projects, writing big essays, and taking their spring field trips. Seniors will be making their final push to graduation.
For students:
A couple important tools to managing this part of the school year are balance and time management. It is difficult to sit and work on homework when the sun is shining and that temperature is climbing past 70 degrees. It is difficult to head back into the house to do homework when daylight is pushing past eight or nine at night. That is where balance and time management come into play. Try to set a strict schedule for doing homework, regardless of the weather outside. With the end of the school year fast approaching, work can’t be put off indefinitely. Track and softball have some events that take up a large portion of the day. Try to make sure homework is done prior to being gone on those days. Work hard to balance your free time with your work time. Keep on top of due dates. If you can manage these things, you can be successful. If not, you can expect a negative impact on your grades.
For parents:
Help your student manage their time. Remind them about homework time. Ask students when their key due dates are for projects and check on them to make sure those dates are being met. Help them maintain a balance of work and free time. If the weather is nice, take some time to enjoy the outdoors with your student. And finally, encourage them to work to succeed.
