C. H. and Samual dinsmore operated a 320 acre pultry farm and hatchery, knows ad the Dinsmore Poultry Farn, near Florence, in 1897.
At that time it was considered one of the largest poultry farms beyondthe Mississippi river. it was to the Florence area what Marcus Daly's horse ranch was to the woners of thoroughbred horses. Dinsmores' objective was to have the best poultry farm possible
Building and pens were erected and soon all arrangements were made for the model hatchery. There were seven incubators with a capacity for 2200 eggs.
