Adult Education Classes Winter 2013
CERAMICS
Ceramics is a course designed for anyone who wishes to create functional, wheel thrown and/or altered ceramic wares. Open to all abilities, this class will feature weekly demos, hands on instruction, and progressing projects to challenge your skill level and inspire your creativity. Students will create work of their choice, help load and unload the kiln, and work toward gaining specific skills in ceramics. The class demos will be on Thursdays with time to work after the demo, Saturdays we will hold an open instructed studio for you to come as you please to finish work, glaze or create wares.
Class size is limited to 7 students

BASICS OF BEADING
This class provides an introduction to the basics of making strung jewelry like necklaces and bracelets. Students will be shown the tools required to make strung jewelry and the proper use of them. Materials and design techniques that are used in making strung jewelry will be shared with the students. Students will then use their newly acquired knowledge of tool, materials and wires to make a necklace, multi-strand bracelet and a wire wrapped donut pendant. Students will be provided with materials to make projects for a $ 25.00 fee or they can bring their own supplies. A list can be obtained of what materials are needed.

BASICS OF EARRINGS
This class provides an introduction to the basics of making earrings. There is a vast array of materials and designs that can be used to make earrings which the students will learn about. Students will be shown the tools required to make earrings and the proper use of them. Making headpins, designing wire earrings and hammering textures are skills students will learn in this class. Students will use their newly acquired knowledge of tools, materials and design to make 2 pair of earrings each week. Students will be provided with materials to make their earrings for a $28.00 fee or they can bring their own supplies. A list can be obtained of what materials are needed.

BEGINNERS SPANISH
Beginners Spanish offers an introduction into speaking and understanding Spanish. Class structure will be driven by student experience and needs. Classes will cover conversational vocabulary and grammar and at least one class will deal specifically with useful Spanish for traveling (tourist Spanish).

GENTLE YOGA
Join Laurie Sherve for some simple yet powerful yoga movements and breathing practices. This is a slower paced gentle practice designed to help you release tension and strengthen your body, improve your balance and flexibility! No yoga experience required.

BEGINNING GUITAR
This is the perfect class for the beginning guitar student and will get you on the correct path to the intermediate level. If you already know a bit of guitar, this class will be a great reinforcement. You can bring your acoustic or electric guitar – the class will be applicable to both genres. In the spring we are planning on offering an intermediate session.

Basic Computer
Beginning level computer class using Windows 7 curriculum to help you navigate the home computer. Class will focus on everyday computer tasks and help trouble shoot problems with standard Windows 7 programs. The class will be broken up into 2 hour classes to give time to practice at home before the next session.
