Many people have asked, “How long will this project take?”  I tell those folks it will take 18-24 months, but really the whole project started on February 7, 2017 with a special board meeting and 35 members of the community giving their input of what our future facilities needs were. Building on information gathered at that meeting, the original facilities committee worked with Collaborative Learning Network.  The mission was to build a model of what the future of learning and teaching should look like at Florence-Carlton, what kind of facility that it should take place in, and how much we could afford to ask the taxpayers for to pay for the new facility and renovations to the remaining buildings.   After many meetings and community input the committee recommend to the Board for our $15,975,000 bond.  The board, committee, FCPO, Florence Athletic Boosters, Florence Music Boosters, and parents worked with Dan McGee of Building, Mind and Body, LLC to get the information on the bond out to the community.  

The board has selected new members to replace those that can no longer serve to an updated Facilities Committee.  The committee members are: Tara Zeiler and Kim Bauer, Board Members; Bud Scully, Supt; Audrey Backus, HS/MS Principal; Chrissy Hulla, Elem. Principal; Scott Marsh, Facilities & Activities Director; Cara Lightfield, K-2 Teachers, Sara Kiffe, 3-5 Teachers; Sheree Jenkins, 6-8 Teachers; Joe Ruffatto, 9-12 Teachers, Charlene Brett, Music & Specials Teachers; Judie Fisher, SPED Teachers; Reba Hoff, Classified Employees;  Todd McCollum and Tono Lippy, Community Members. 

They have a lot of work to do in a very short time period.  It starts with hiring an Owner’s Representative who will act as the project manager to protect the District’s Interests during the design and construction phases.  The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Owner's Rep is posted on the district website along with the dates that the committee will meet to review the submitted RFQs.  Here is the list of important dates for Facilities Committee meetings; they are open to the public to attend.  I will continually update the website with information regarding the project.  You can click on the links below for project updates and historical information.  If you have any questions regarding the project or the process, please do not hesitate to ask me.  Email or call 406-273-6751 ext.100.
